Thanksgiving Table Inspiration

I spent today doing laundry and cleaning rugs, upholstery, and windows.  Yep, I had one heck of an exciting day!  I realized I was getting tired when I couldn't figure out why my windows kept looking filmy after I cleaned them ... then I realized I was spraying them with Lysol instead of Windex!  At that point I decided I had done enough for the day and deserved to take a break and look at some pretty pictures.

I was looking for some ideas for our Thanksgiving tablesetting and thought I'd share some of them with you.

I love the orange, yellow and green with the pumpkin centerpiece on this one:

The rich reds and oranges on this one are striking.

These little turkeys are adorable -- perfect for the kid's table!

The pink china and candles, gold rimmed plates and gilded apples on this table are beautiful.

The natural elements incorporated in this one are so pretty -- but where would you put the food?  That's actually an issue with quite a few of the ones I saw.  Great styling for a photo, but not all that practical!

Case in point -- but beautiful to look at!

I love the varied textures and rich jewel tones in this setting.

This one may be my favorite -- simple, pretty and practical!  Note the kraft paper runner across the middle of the table.  After dinner you could give everyone a marker and have them doodle or write what they are thankful for while you're getting dessert ready! I love the white candles in the little white pumpkins. And look at how they used the little tin molds for placecard holders.  Plus, there is room for food!

These gave me some ideas -- how about you?  I'll try to remember to take a photo of what I come up with for our table and show it to you!

  1. I think I like the last one best! Simple, easy, laid back and comfortable. Like your idea of everyone writing down what they are grateful for while dessert is coming!

In my home, the only Thanksgiving decoration that is really up is the dinner table - I have place mats, napkins and some dinnerware used only for this meal. I love Christmas so much it has to be up before then!

Thanks for sharing so many ideas!

Many blessings for a Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. I have NO plan. We really are not that formal I guess. I did the table up last year, but is was pretty last minute ;) I'm sure I'll do the same and throw something together this year too. It'll be a surprise though. LOL

  3. Lovely photos. I love the reds and oranges and also the little white pumpkins. I think it's fine to have "stuff" on the table, especially if there's a buffet table. That way the food is separate and the table looks lovely!

  4. Beautiful photos! I love the one with the reds and golds. I think you'd have to have some sort of buffet or serving table for the food to have a table filled with decor. Hope whatever you decide is easy for you!

  5. Good point Helen & Pat! I didn't even think of a buffet since we always serve Thanksgiving dinner family style. Wish I had more room in my dining room for a buffet!

  7. I'm sure whatever you do will be lovely.

Oh! And food on the table??? Don't you have servants for that sort of thing? ;)
